Residents at Bethlehem Community chose to give back to the community each year by participating in civic engagement activities. Each year residents hold a food drive to donate to the National Letter Carrier’s Food Drive. They pride themselves on being able to fill a mail truck with non- perishable food items for less fortunate people in the community. Resident Doris Ward makes her rounds to resident’s apartments and coordinates the buildings efforts. The following week, residents hold their annual yard sale to benefit “HELP the Animals,” a local no-kill animal shelter where many of them have adopted their beloved pets. They collect items all year long to sell and donate all the proceeds to the local charity. A party is held at the end of these two important events when the residents come together and have a cook-out to celebrate their accomplishments and share in their success. This type of activity is what makes Bethlehem Community a special place to live and call home.
