Pie Baking 101

What started out as two college students looking for volunteer hours turned into an inter-generational learning experience at Lutheran Community, part of Graceworks Housing Services, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

The students wanted to volunteer by sharing their love of baking with the residents and arranged to bake pies. They also shared that they would like to open their own bakery in the future. The residents at Lutheran were more than happy to talk with the students about their aspirations to become professional culinary artists.  With the help of the residents, six delicious pies were made and enjoyed.

The students did not know when they first visited Lutheran Community that they would both make friends and pick up new baking tips. The students intend to return to Lutheran and spend an entire day with residents baking, sharing lots of laughs and having fun.
